Thomas Alva Edison-STEM class

Thomas Alva Edison
February 11, 1847
to
October 18, 1931

I chose Thomas Alva Edison as my Scientist Project because he was smart. He was an inventor and because I know him a little better and have been at his Edison Estate in Fort Myers, Florida. At his Estates I took science classes and I got to see his inventions, his laboratory, his wife's garden and the big Banyan tree which he was trying to make rubber from before he passed away.

Thomas Alva Edison was born in February 11,1847 in Milam, Ohio and died on October 18 1931. He only went to school 1 to 2 years and books say that one day his teacher called him "addled" and he went home crying. When his mom found out, she took him back to school and told the teacher that "he did not know what he was talking about". And then she got him out of school and homeschooled him and that's when he developed a love for reading books.

When he started growing up he started inventing and mixing chemicals and sometimes he scared his parents. Then he asked for permission to work at the train station when he was 12 years old. He then began to work and kept inventing and selling newspaper and became a telegrapher.

He was and is (even today) one of the most highly regarded American inventors. Thomas Edison's first inventions include an electric vote recorder and a stock ticker. When Thomas was 9 years old, he received a book on physics. Even then, he did not believe in all the experiments that were in the book until he tested them himself. He used the basement to do his experiments. Did you know that Thomas Edison was partially deaf? He said that it did not bother him because it helped him concentrate better. He also invented the phonograph and the long-lasting light bulb.

George Washington-Leadership Project

                                                                George Washington

I picked George Washington because for me he was a really good leader, he was inspiring and he was a great president. The event that made George Washington a leader was the Revolutionary war against the British. During the Revolutionary War he was the Commander for the Continental Army. He convinced colonials to join the war, he had courage and concern for the troops. He inspired the colonist to not give up and fight on when the colonist wanted to give up.

Here is my video of George Washington I created on iMovie. Enjoy!!!

(note: Some parts of this video and the voice was made with footage from the national geographic, not me. I just put this together for my class)

BMX Racing

I love BMX racing because it is something I have never experienced before. This is BMX camp. We had so much fun. By the end of the week we had "noodle legs". BMX is really hard work!

We were in the Naples Daily News paper and the cover of the website!
This is what I would like to do someday.

BMX bike race Alba. This is how it feels to race.
From templeofbmx.com

I would like to go to the BMX Olympics when I get older.
This picture was in Beijing.

This is how big the London Olympics BMX track was!!!!!!

Here are the final racers, in front is the gold medalist from Latvia, Maris Strongbergs.

Here is Raymon Van Ber Biezen of Netherlands at the London Olympics.

Here are the racers from the London Olympics as a flock on the air.

This is how so close the racers are to each other from start line to finish line and it's intense!!!

And this is an American girl racer that crashed and landed on her face and that hurts!!!!
This is how my life is going to be.
