Peter Stuyvesant- Established America's First Volunteer Fireman

     Today’s leader

I picked today’s leader and his name is Peter Stuyvesant. He established
America’s first volunteer firemen. He was born in the Netherlands in 1592 and died in 1672.
Mr. Stuyvesant served in the Dutch Army and he was a governor and he lost a leg in an attack t the Portuguese Island of St. Martin. he later moved to America and he was appointed director at
New Amsterdam on May 11, 1647.

As a director of New Amsterdam he organized a council and made a court. But he was unpopular because he was a bit of a dictator leader and he got in trouble a lot with other colonist leaders.

Even though he was tough, every thing was organized and he created a lot of things for the colony like trading with other countries and people felt safe with him around because
he protected the colony.
